Filter coffee recipe

                  FILTER COFFEE / KAAPI / DEGREE COFFEE / DECOTION COFFEE / SOUTH INDIAN FILTER COFFEE

Same recipe tried with mutton and served with dosa

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 tbsp – Fresh filter coffee powder [easily available freshly grounded coffee beans pwdr in south indian store or Narasus coffee or any other  brand]
  • Sugar as per taste
  • Milk for 2 cup coffee
  • Water – 3/4 cup
  • Filter coffee vessel
  • Davara set-steel glass with a steel bowl as seen in the pic

METHOD

Put the coffee powder in the upper strainer container with small holes.

Fix the strainer container on top of the bottom collection container.

Now press in the presser with handle on top of the coffee powder.

Pour in very hot boiling water upto the brim.

Immediately close it with the lid.

Keep aside for 15 to 30 mins.

The filtered coffee mixture known as the decotion will get collected in the bottom container.

Boil milk with required sugar.

Now take required decotion in the glass .[depending on how strong you want the coffee] Add more decotion if you want strong coffee.

Pour in the hot boiling milk.

Froth the coffee till it becomes frothy.

Frothing means putting the coffee from the davara to the tumbler from height till you get the froth or the bubbles .

Serve hot in davara and tumbler set.

NOTE

  1. The coffee served in the steel glass is called tumbler and the steel bowl below it is called the davara.
  2. The filter vessel comes in different sizes.
  3. The remaining decotion can be kept for the whole day.
  4. Regularly clean the strainer container by immersing it in boiling water to clean the holes of the strainer.as the holes get blocked with coffee powder.
  5. Use very hot water and hot milk .
