HOW TO MAKE CHOCOLATE FONDUE AT HOME
There are three main types of fondues : cheese fondue, oil or broth fondue and chocolate fondue.
Chocolate fondue is made of chocolate and heavy whipping cream. Vanilla and salt can also be added if desired. Milk chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, dark chocolate or bittersweet chocolate can be used.
Chocolate melted to the consistency of a sauce into which bread or fruits are dipped.
INGREDIENTS
- Dark chocolate – ¼ cup
- Semi sweet chocolate – ¼ cup
- Sugar – 1 tbsp or as per taste [ optional ]
- Fresh cream – ½ cup
- Vanilla essence – few drops
- Assorted dippers [ bite size pieces ] – strawberry / biscuits/ cracker/ sponge cake/ any fruits /marshmallows /
METHOD
Coarsely chop the chocolate.
Melt the chocolate + whipping cream + sugar in a double boiler.
Turn the heat down to low and melt the chocolate, stirring constantly and making sure the chocolate doesn’t burn.
Stir in the vanilla essence .
Keep the fondue warm on low heat.
Arrange everything to be dipped on a platter, or divide onto 2 platters instead for easier access on both sides of the fondue pot.
Pour the mixture into a fondue pot. Light the fuel and serve with dippers.
NOTE –
- If the fondue gets too thick or grainy, turn off the fondue fuel and stir in more milk 1 teaspoon at a time until it smooths out again.
- Leftover fondue can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks and remelted over low heat.
- If you don’t have fondue pot – Just dip straight from the pot.
- We can also add cinnamon pwdr / 1 tbsp of rum .
