NO SOAKING PRESSURE COOKER PEAS PULAO

QUICK AND EASY INSTANT PRESSURE COOKER GREEN PEAS PULAO /NO SOAKING

INGREDIENTS

  • Basmati rice – 1 cup
  • Green peas – ½ cup
  • Ghee – 2 tbsp
  • Whole garam masala – ½ tsp sai jeera + 2 cloves + 2 cardamom + javitri +1  bayleaf + small piece of cinnamon + ½ star anise +7 black pepper
  • Onion thinly sliced  – 1 big
  • Green chilli – 2 slit or as per taste
  • Ginger + Garlic paste – 2 tsp
  • Finely chopped tomato – 1 small
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp [ optional ]
  • Coriander leaves + Mint leaves finely chopped – ¼  cup
  • Sugar – ½ tsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • Water or stock – 1 ¾ cup
  • Fried cashew nuts for garnishing [ optional ]

PREPARATION – Wash the rice an keep aside till use , no need to soak.

METHOD

Heat ghee + oil  in cooker , add the whole garam masala and let it splutter.

Add the onion + green chilli  and saute till light golden brown.

Add the ginger garlic paste and fry till raw smell leaves.

Add tomato + salt + sugar and mix well .

Stir fry till tomatoes soften .

Add turmeric +  coriander leaves + mint leaves  and give a nice mix .

Add the green peas + rice , mix well till the rice gets coated with the masala.

Add 1 ¾ cup water and mix .Adjust salt if needed .

Close the cooker and pressure cook on medium flame till first whistle .

After the first whistle , off the flame .

Don’t open the cooker , the rice gets further cooked in the steam inside the cooker.

After 20 mins open the cooker and fluff it with a fork .

Serve it hot with any veg or non veg gravy. It can be even had plain with little pickle and  salad.

NOTES

  1. Instead of basmati rice you can use any regular rice.
  2. Instead of plain water , use stock – mix ½ cube of veg or non veg maggi magic cube.
  3. Amount of green peas depends upon you .
  4. You can use fresh peas or frozen peas .
  5. Instead of water you can use coconut milk.
  6. I use the ratio of 1 : 2 [rice and water] for cooking in pan .Refer here –
  7. You can also garnish with fried onions.
  8. Same recipe you can add other veggies , paneer ,mushroom etc etc and it becomes a pulav of that ingredients .
  9. For mixed veg pulav add mixed veggies like cauliflower , potato, green peas, carrot, beans.
  10. Instead of veges you can add chicken for chicken pulav.
