If the bitter taste of amla was keeping you from including it in your diet, then you must try this amla candy, which is a perfect blend of sweet and sour flavour.
Having amla murraba everyday can help boost immunity. It helps keep any common health issues like cold and cough at bay. Amla is rich in fiber which is essential for a healthy digestive system. It helps in treating any digestion-related issues like constipation, bloating among others.
Regular consumption of amla can help you with digestion as it is rich in fibre. Antioxidants-rich amla can help in fighting free radicals and the damage caused by them. The benefit of amla murabba over other ways to include amla in diet as that the candy can be carried to work or even when you’re travelling.
Amla is one of the most powerful superfoods and has been an important part of traditional Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. According to Theravada Buddhism amla is considered the plant of enlightenment. Synonyms of amla in Sanskrit mean “mother,” “nurse,” and “immortality”. Amla contains 8 times more vitamin C than Orange.
Besides being a rich source of vitamin c, these candies can even help you boost your metabolism to maintain your overall health easily. Once your metabolism is good and your digestive system stays healthy, you can even manage your blood sugar levels easily.
The phytonutrients and antioxidants in amla can benefit memory by fighting against free radicals that can attack and damage brain cells. The antioxidants and vitamins found in amla berries offer several health benefits. High concentrations of vitamin C in amla helps the body recover from illness.

INGREDIENTS FOR AMLA MURABBA
- Amla (Indian Gooseberry) – 250 grms
- Sugar – 250 grms
- Chuna – 1 tsp
- Water – 3/4 cup
METHOD
Wash the amlas . Poke the amlas on all sides with a fork.
Take water in a pan and add the chuna and mix well .
Add in the amlas and give a nice mix.
The amlas should be completely covered with chuna water.
Cover and keep the pan aside for 1 day .
This is done to reduce the bitterness .
Next day discard the chuna water and rinse the amlas well.
Take a pan add ½ cup water + sugar .
Cook on medium to low flame till the sugar melts.
Now add the amlas and mix well.
The amla will leave lot of water.
Stir and cook for 30 mins on low flame.
Stir in between,
The amlas should becomes very soft and the syrup should be of honey consistency .[ no thread consistency ]
The amlas have to be cooked well till soft.
Once done cover it keep aside for 3 days to mature.
Cool it completely and store it in an air tight sterilised glass container.
Store up to 1 year at room temperature .
NOTE
We can add cardamom, black pepper, black salt and kesar in the amla syrup for additional flavour .
