APPLE ORANGE CHUTNEY

Chutney is a gluten-free, spicy or savory condiment originating in India. Chutney is made from fruits, vegetables, and/or herbs with vinegar , sugar, and spices.

Chutney is an integral part of indian cuisine It is served with everything from rice  to bread items .

Apple chutney is quite an easy recipes ,You can use either green apples or red apples or a combination of both ,

Vinegar is used in chutney because its acidity effectively inhibits the actions of unwanted micro-organisms.It increase the shelf life of the chutney .

INGREDIENTS

  • Medium apples, peeled and chopped – 2
  • Oranges pulp – 2
  • Sugar / brown sugar / jaggery –  ¾ cup or as per taste or depends on taste
  • Cinnamon pwdr – 1/8 tsp [ small pinch ]
  • Chilli flakes – 1 tsp or as per taste
  • Grated ginger – 1 tbsp
  • Salt to tase
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon 1 inch
  • Raisins – ¼ cup
  • White Vinegar –  ½  cup

METHOD

Take all the ingredients one by one in a pan.

Cook on medium flame till the apples are soft. [ 7 to 8 mins ]

Don’t over cook and make it thick.

Let it cool down and then store in a glass sterilised jar.

Keep refrigerated after 3 – 4 days for a long shelf life. (stays well for minimum 25 days in the refrigerator)
