COCONUT MILK RICe DAL PORRIDGE

COCONUT MILK RICE DAL PORRIDGE / COMFORT FOOD/ VENDHAYA KANJI OR THENGAI PAAL KANJI / POONDU VENDHAYA KANJI /  HOME REMEDY FOR MOUTH ULCER AND STOMACH ULCER.

This Vendhaya kanji / Porridge is a healthy breakfast recipe prepared using rice, fenugreek seeds, garlic and coconut milk.

it is a good body coolant; highly recommended for people having mouth and stomach ulcer.  Its a porridge with medicinal values. Fenugreek and garlic in it gives you immunity and coconut milk heals stomach problems. during fasting days, it is better to have the fenugreek porridge as first meal. Additionally it cures indigestion and high blood pressure.

BENEFITS OF COCONUT MILK – Coconut and coconut milk are known for strong anti-bacterial and antiulcer properties that is beneficial in treating stomach ulcers. It kills the ulcer causing bacteria. 

BENEFITS OF FENUGREEK SEEDS  – Fenugreek or methi has healing properties that can be used to treat stomach ulcers. Fenugreek contains a mucilaginous compound that protects the stomachs lining by coating it like mucus thus healing it in the process. 

BENEFITS OF GARLIC –  garlic  help prevent the development of ulcers and help speed up the healing process.

BENEFITS OF MOONG DAL Helps against a host of microbes, but more so, against the H. pylori bacteria which triggers gastric ulcers.

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup Raw rice 
  • 2 or 3 tbsp Moong dal
  • 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds/ methi dana
  • 1 cup Coconut milk
  • 6 -10  Garlic
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 cup water

METHOD

Wash rice, dal and methi seeds in a cooker.

 Add garlic + 2 cups water + salt  to it.

Pressure cook for 4-5 whistles.

Once done, mash it well.

Add coconut milk and mix well.

Now add 2 cup of hot water and mix well.

Adjsut water as per the consistency you want.It thickens on cooling .

Adjust salt if needed.

Serve hot with any side dishes .

We Southindian serve with dry coconut chutney.
