EASY PEANUT CHUTNEY

Peanut chutney

INGREDIENTS

  • Peanuts – 1/2 cup
  • Oil – 2 tsp
  • Garlic – 1 OR 2 clove
  • Dry red chillies – 2 or 3 or as required
  • Tamarind – a small piece
  • Jaggery – 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves – few

PREPARATION

  1. Roast peanut on medium heat till golden .
  2. Once it cools ,rub and remove the skin and keep it aside.
  3. *** Remember to roast the peanuts well till crisp .
  4. Heat few drops of  oil in a small pan , roast the red chilli and keep aside
EASY PEANUT CHUTNEY

METHOD

Grind roasted skinless peanuts + garlic + red chillies + tamarind + salt .

Add 1/2 cup warm water and grind it  to a smooth paste.

Add water as per the consistency ,you want – thick or thin or medium .

Now in a pan ,heat 2 tsp ,oil and add mustard seeds + few curry leaves and let it crackle .

Off the flame and pour the chutney in it .

Mix well ,peanut chutney is ready to serve as accompaniment. With idli /dosa/upma/Pongal .

NOTES

  1. Some add 1/2 tsp jeera /few fried small onions .
  2. You can add a small piece of jaggery.
  3. Instead of red chilli ,you can add green chilli .
  4. You can add little coconut .
  5. While tempering ,you can also add 1/4 tsp urad dal and a red chilli .
  6. You can use store bought readymade roasted skinless peanuts.
  7. I made it watery .
