GUJARATI SPECIAL 2 IN 1 PATRA DHOKLA RECIPE

Patra Dhokla is an interesting 2 in 1 Gujarati healthy steamed  Indian snack made . Patra and Dhokla are steamed together layer.

Goes well for breakfast, lunch or snack.

INGREDIENTS

METHOD

Bring water to boil in a steamer.

Make a layer of patra in the cake tin .Leave gap around the edges of the tin .

Quickly pour the dhokla batter over the patra .

Place the cake tin inside the preheated steamer.

Cover and steam over a high heat for 20 – 25  minutes or until a skewer inserted into the dhokla comes out clean. 

Off the flame

Allow the dhokla to rest for 15 mins  in the steamer itself .

After 15 mins run a sharp knife around the edge of the tin

 Place a large plate on top ,  flip the tin over to turn it out.

Heat the oil in a small pan. Crackle  the mustard seeds .

Now add sesame seeds + curry leaves + sliced chillies + asafoetida.

Lower the flame and add water +  sugar .Stir and cook till sugar dissolves completely .

Off the flame and pour the tadka evenly all over the patra .

Again allow to stand for at least 15 to 20 minutes minimum or more .

Slice the dhokla  and serve with any sweet and spicy  chutneys.
