HEALTHY PEAR SOUP

A pear is a mild, sweet fruit with a fibrous center. Pears are rich in essential antioxidants, plant compounds, and dietary fiber. 

Pears are rich in essential antioxidants, plant compounds, and dietary fiber. They pack all of these nutrients in a fat free, cholesterol free, 100 calorie package. As part of a balanced, nutritious diet, consuming pears could support weight loss and reduce a person’s risk of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.

The vitamin C content of pears is about 7 mg, making pears a good source of vitamin C. Medium-sized pears are also concentrated in fiber (6 g) and qualify as an excellent source of dietary fiber. Like all fruits, pears are an important source of potassium (180 mg).

Pears are rich in potent antioxidants, such as procyanidins and quercetin, that can boost heart health by improving blood pressure and cholesterol. Eating pears regularly may also reduce stroke risk.

INGREDIENTS

  • Pear – 3 big ripe ones
  • Cinnamon – small piece
  • Bay leaf – 1
  • Garlic- 1 tbsp
  • Ginger – 1 tsp
  • Onion chopped – 1 small
  • Butter – 1 or 2  tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper pwdr as needed

METHOD

Wash ,peel and chop the pear .

Heat butter in a cooker .

Add bay leaf + cinnamon and give a stir .

Add onion , garlic and ginger and stir fry for 1 or 2 mins till the onion caramelises a bit  .

Add the pear and give a nice stir .

Add water and mix .

Pressure cook upto 2 whistles .

Allow the pressure to release .

Discard the cinnamon + bay leaf and blend well .

Add salt and give a nice mix.

Adjust hot water to adjust the consistency as per your want .

Bring it to a boil and off the flame .

Serve hot paired  with crusty bread or soup sticks .

Sprinkle pepper pwdr while serving .

If desired, top with pear slices.

NOTE

You can make with a combo of apple or broccoli or spinach or any .

For creaminess we can add fresh while serving.
