HEALTHY WEIGHT LOSS MAKHANA SNACK RECIPE /  PHOOL MAKHANA MUNCHIES /FOX NUT CHIVDA/LOTUS SEEDS

A handful of makhanas every day can keep you looking younger and make your skin glow. The catch is they should not be consumed as a fried snack. The presence of antioxidants in makhanas makes them even better for digestive health. They also help in the prevention of excessive and frequent urination.

Makhanas are low in cholesterol, sodium and saturated fats and are good for your heart. They are a good source of magnesium, potassium, manganese, phosphorous and protein. This high nutrition value of makhanas makes them a perfect and healthy snack.


Being low in calories, makhanas promote weight loss , while their high calcium content makes them good for bones. These are also good in controlling blood pressure, detoxification of the body and improve digestive health.

INGREDIENTS

  • 150 grms – fox nut / Makhana
  • 2 tbsp  ghee
  • ¼  cup raw peanuts
  • ¼  cup sliced almonds
  • ¼  cup cashew nuts
  • ¼  cup roasted chana dal /daria dal [ optional ]
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds , flaxseeds ,melon seeds, quinoa
  • ¼ cup black raisins
  • 1 tsp or as per taste  pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp black salt
  • 1 tsp chaat masala pwdr
  • 2 tbsp mint pwdr
  • ½ tsp amchur pwdr
  • Salt to taste

METHOD

Chop the makhanas into 2 . [ optional ]

Heat a heavy bottom pan and dry roast the makhana on medium flame for 6 to 7 mins.

Check by crushing the seeds with hand .It should be crispy .

Transfer to a plate.

Heat ghee in the same pan.

Add the peanuts and roast till crunchy.

Lower the flame and add almonds + cashew and roast for a min.

Now add all the other ingredients one by one and keep stir frying on low flame .

Once all are roasted well .add the pepper pwdr + turmeric pwdr  + salt + amchur pwdr and mix well.

Now add the roasted seeds and mix well .

Off the flame and transfer to a plate .

Once it cools down , store in an air tight container .

Serve as a healthy snack .
