Khirapat and Panchkhadya or panch gudkhadya is served after ganpati aarti [ Naivedhyam ] during Ganesh chaturthi festival.

Khirapat and Panchkhadya is a easy to make dry prasad for Ganpati.

Khirapat and Panchkhadya recipe is made in variety of ways in many Marathi home.

Panch khadya is made from 5 ingredients, usually starting from “Kha” in marathi – considered as Bappa’s (Lord Ganesha’s) favourite food.

  • Khobra / Dry Coconut
  • Kharik / Dry Dates
  • Khadi Sakar / rock sugar
  • KhusKhus / Poppy seeds
  • Khismis /Raisins

It can also be used as a stuffing in fried modaks / steamed modaks / gujiyas / karanjis .

Panchkhadya can be served as it is or can be shaped into ladoos / modak or any shape . I have used the kalash mould and given kalash shape .Here in this recipe I have used mava for binding to give shape .

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 cup  grated mava
  • ½  cup kharik
  • 1 cup khobra / desiccated coconut
  • ½  cup khadi sakhar / mishri / rock sugar
  • 1 tsp  khus khus / poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp khismis /raisins

METHOD

Make fine pwdr of sugar in a mixie jar .

Now ass dry dates + desiccated coconut + poppy seeds + sesame seeds and blend.

Heat a non stick pan on low to medium  , add the crumbled mava .

Stir and cook on low flame for 2  minute .Off the flame and keep aside

Add the sugar powder mixture to the mava and mix well .

Take small portion of the panchkhadya either roll into smooth balls or give any shapes like modak etc using moulds.

I have used a kalash mould .

NOTES –

If the  mixture is dry , just sprinkle few drops of milk and mix well.
