SPRING ONION MOONG DAL KI SABJI

INGREDIENTS

  • Moong dal – ¼ cup
  • Spring onion – 1 bundle
  • Tomato – 1 big
  • Oil – 1 or 2 tbsp
  • Jeera – 1 tsp
  • Red chilli pwdr – 1 tsp or as per taste
  • Coriander pwdr – 1 ½ tsp
  • Turmeric – ¼ tsp
  • Asafoetida – generous pinch
  • Sugar – ¼ tsp
  • Salt to taste

METHOD

Wash and soak the dal for minimum 1 hour or more.

Heat oil in a pan and crackle the jeera .

Add the onion and stir fry till translucent .

Lower the flame and add the masala pwdr + sugar.

Stir fry for few seconds.

Add the chopped tomato + salt and mix well.

Cook till the tomato softens.

Add the soaked dal and mix well.

Stir and cook for a min.

Add roughly ¼ cup water , cover and cook.

Cook till the dal is 75 percent cooked.

Now add the leaves and mix well.

Stir and cook till the leaves shrink completely and the dal is cooked .

Once done off the flame and serve as a side dish .
