TAMIL NADU STYLE COCONUT CHUTNEY
TAMIL NADU STYLE COCONUT CHUTNEY
INGREDIENTS
- Freshly grated coconut – 1 cup
- Green chilli – 4 or 5 [ don’t reduce ]
- Tamarind – a small piece [ must ]
- Water – 1 cup
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Shallots finely chopped – 8 [ or 1 small sized onion ]
- Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
- Urad dal – ½ tsp
- Curry leaves – a sprig
METHOD
Grind coconut + green chilli + tamarind + salt .
Now add 1 cup water and grind finely .
Heat oil in a pan .
Add mustard seeds + urad dal and let it crackle .
add curry leaves + finely chopped shallots and stir fry till light brown .
Pour the chutney into the pan .
Bring to a boil and off the flame .
Serve with any southindian breakfast items .
I served it with appam .
