Easy AND SIMPLE peanut chutney
EASY PEANUT CHUTNEY
INGREDIENTS
- Peanuts – 1/2 cup
- Oil – 2 tsp
- Garlic – 1 OR 2 clove
- Dry red chillies – 2 or 3 or as required
- Tamarind – a small piece
- Jaggery – 1/2 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Curry leaves – few
PREPARATION
- Roast peanut on medium heat till golden .
- Once it cools ,rub and remove the skin and keep it aside.
- *** Remember to roast the peanuts well till crisp .
- Heat few drops of oil in a small pan , roast the red chilli and keep aside
METHOD
Grind roasted skinless peanuts + garlic + red chillies + tamarind + salt .
Add 1/2 cup warm water and grind it to a smooth paste.
Add water as per the consistency ,you want – thick or thin or medium .
Now in a pan ,heat 2 tsp ,oil and add mustard seeds + few curry leaves and let it crackle .
Off the flame and pour the chutney in it .
Mix well ,peanut chutney is ready to serve as accompaniment. With idli /dosa/upma/Pongal .
NOTES
- Some add 1/2 tsp jeera /few fried small onions .
- You can add a small piece of jaggery.
- Instead of red chilli ,you can add green chilli .
- You can add little coconut .
- While tempering ,you can also add 1/4 tsp urad dal and a red chilli .
- You can use store bought readymade roasted skinless peanuts.
- I made it watery .
