HOW TO MAKE BURRITO BOWL

Delicious, fresh, easy and filling, the Burrito is a staple Mexican food.

It’s usually filled with refried beans, sauces, meat, cheese and vegetable toppings.

One of the best things about a burrito is that you can customise them to your liking ! You can think of any burrito filling ideas and make it work.

Traditionally, the essentials contain beans, meat or veggie protein and salsa, wrapped up in a flour tortilla. Extra vegetables, sour cream, guacamole, cheese and rice are also frequently added to the mix. Well in a burrito bowl tortillas are not used It is served on a plate .

A burrito bowl is not technically a burrito despite its name, as it consists of burrito fillings served without the tortilla. The fillings are placed in a bowl, and a layer of rice is put at the bottom.

Making a homemade burrito bowl compared to eating  out, lets you control the sodium content in all the different components of the dish.

Reduce your carb intake by  swapping rgular rice with any healy rice or rice recipes or even millets .

The basic combination of protein, carbs, and fat (chicken, rice and beans, and guacamole and cheese, respectively) is not only healthy and filling, but incredibly satisfying too. 

We can use any stuffing –

  • Rajma beans / kabuli chana
  • Rice / variety of rice / millets
  • Chicken / beef / pork / mutton /paneer
  • Guacamole
  • Salsa
  • Cheese
  • Sour Cream
  • Corn
  • Lettuce
  • Peppers
  • Tomatoes
  • Onion
  • Any baked crispy papads
  • Also you can add any healthy gravy to it like stew / thai curry / Burmese gravy etc

Basically we need to balance all the nutrition to make it a balanced diet consisting of proteins / carbs / fats / fibre etc.
