HOW TO MAKE CARDAMOM NUTMEG POWDER AT HOME / ELAICHI JAIPHAL POWDER RECIPE

Cardamom powder is widely used in Indian sweet dishes, ice creams, milk specialities, and hot masala milk. It adds flavour and aroma to many rice dishes, vegetables and other richly-flavoured dishes. It is used as a traditional flavouring in coffee and tea.

 Grated nutmeg can be used in various kinds of desserts like kheer, cheesecakes, phirni, puran poli etc. Sometimes a hint of grated nutmeg is used to perk up the taste of savoury dishes too. It can also be added to homemade garam masala and chai ka masala. Nutmeg, grated when fresh, is a tasty addition to cheese sauces.

Indian Desserts are incomplete without this spice mix! Absolutely easy to make, you can prepare the Cardamom-Nutmeg spice mix and store it in an air-tight jar / container. This spice mix stays well in the fridge for 3 – 4 months.

INGREDIENTS / साहित्य

  • 50 gms Cardamom / Elaichi / वेलची
  • 1 Nutmeg / जायफळ  [ crushed ]
  • 2 tbsp Sugar / साखर

METHOD

Dry roast the cardamom with skin .

Off the flame and add the nutmeg powder and give a mix .

Allow to cool and transfer to a mixie jar.

Add sugar and grind into fine powder .

Store it in an air-tight container and use as needed .

It is used in many Indian sweets especially made during diwalis in Maharashtra .
