Lauki kofta gravy /LAUKI KE KOFTE

                                                                                   LAUKI KOFTA /LAUKI KE KOFTE

INGREDIENTS FOR THE KOFTA

  • Grated bottle gourd /ghia / lauki – 3 cup
  • Besan – 6 to 8  tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste – ½ tsp
  • Green chilli paste – ½ tsp
  • Coriander pwdr  – 1 tsp
  • Chaat masala pwdr – ½ tsp
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves- 2 OR 3 tbsp
  • Red chilli pwdr – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric – a generous pinch
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil for shallow or deep frying

METHOD

Peel the lauki and grate it , avoid the seeds.

Squeeze the extra water from it . [keep the water you can add it in the gravy ]

Now add all the ingredients to the lauki and mix well.

Divide it into equal portions of lemon size.

Roll each portion into ball .

Deep fry the balls till golden brown .

Remove on absorbent paper and keep aside.

INGREDIENTS FOR THE GRAVY

  • Oil – 1 or 2 tbsp
  • Finely chopped onion – 1
  • Bay leaf – 1
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • Tomato puree – 2 tomatoes
  • Sugar – ½ tsp
  • Red chilli pwdr – 1 ½ tsp or as per taste
  • Turmeric – ¼ tsp
  • Garam masala pwdr or kitchen king masala – 1 tsp
  • Coriander pwdr – 3 tsp
  • Jeera pwdr – ½ tsp
  • Besan – 2 tsp
  • Asafoetida – a pinch
  • Water – 2 or 2 ½ cup
  • fresh cream – 1 or 2 tbsp [ optional – to be added in end ]

NOTES

  1. You can also add grated paneer to the kofta.
  2. Instead of deep frying you can fry the kofta in appe pan.
