LAUKI KOFTA /LAUKI KE KOFTE
INGREDIENTS FOR THE KOFTA
- Grated bottle gourd /ghia / lauki – 3 cup
- Besan – 6 to 8 tbsp
- Ginger garlic paste – ½ tsp
- Green chilli paste – ½ tsp
- Coriander pwdr – 1 tsp
- Chaat masala pwdr – ½ tsp
- Finely chopped coriander leaves- 2 OR 3 tbsp
- Red chilli pwdr – ½ tsp
- Turmeric – a generous pinch
- Salt as per taste
- Oil for shallow or deep frying
METHOD
Peel the lauki and grate it , avoid the seeds.
Squeeze the extra water from it . [keep the water you can add it in the gravy ]
Now add all the ingredients to the lauki and mix well.
Divide it into equal portions of lemon size.
Roll each portion into ball .
Deep fry the balls till golden brown .
Remove on absorbent paper and keep aside.
INGREDIENTS FOR THE GRAVY
- Oil – 1 or 2 tbsp
- Finely chopped onion – 1
- Bay leaf – 1
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
- Tomato puree – 2 tomatoes
- Sugar – ½ tsp
- Red chilli pwdr – 1 ½ tsp or as per taste
- Turmeric – ¼ tsp
- Garam masala pwdr or kitchen king masala – 1 tsp
- Coriander pwdr – 3 tsp
- Jeera pwdr – ½ tsp
- Besan – 2 tsp
- Asafoetida – a pinch
- Water – 2 or 2 ½ cup
- fresh cream – 1 or 2 tbsp [ optional – to be added in end ]
NOTES
- You can also add grated paneer to the kofta.
- Instead of deep frying you can fry the kofta in appe pan.
