MOMS CHOLE RECIPE  WITHOUT GARAM MASALA

INGREDIENTS

Kabuli chana – ½ cup

Chana dal – ¼ cup

Fresh coriander leaves – 1 ½ cup

Green chilli – 6 or as per taste

Garlic – 15

Turmeric – ¼ tsp

Coriander pwdr – 2 tsp

Red chilli pwdr – 1 tsp or as per taste

Tamarind pulp – 2 tbsp

Oil – 2 tbsp

Jeera – 1 tsp

Onion – 1 big

Water – 2 ½  or 3 cup water

METHOD

Soak chana dal + kabuli overnight.

Pressure cook till soft with little salt . After first whistle on medium flame . lower the flame and cook for 10 mins .

Once done drain the water .Dont discard the water.

Take the drained kabuli in a bowl.

Add the green masala + masala pwdr and mix well.Keep aside for 30 mins .

Heat oil in a pan and crackle jeera .

Add onions and stir fry till translucent .

Add the marinated kabuli and mix well.

 Stir fry for 2 mins.

 Add the drained water + tamarind pulp + water as needed and mix well. Water quantity as per the consistency you want , the gravy thickens on cooling as we have added chana dal .

Adjust salt to taste.

Bring to a boil .

Simmer for 1 or 2 mins and off the lfmae.

 Chole is ready to serve .
