Veg momos recipe
VEG MOMOS / DUMPLING RECIPE / HOMEMADE MOMOS
FOR THE OUTER COVERING INGREDIENTS [ 13 to 15 ]
- Maida / plain flour – 1 cup
- Oil – 1 tsp
- Salt as per taste
- Hot Water to knead [ roughly 1/2 cup ]
METHOD
Mix maida + salt +oil.
Add water and need it into a firm [ stiff ] dough, [not very soft and not very hard ]
Apply pressure and knead for 2 to 3 mins.
Cover with a damp cloth and keep it aside for 15 -20 mins.
INGREDIENTS FOR STUFFING
- Grated cabbage – 1 cup
- Grated carrot – 1/2 cup
- Finely chopped onion – ½ cup
- finely chopped capsicum – 1/4 cup
- Green chilli finely chopped – 1 [ optional ]
- Finely chopped or grated ginger + garlic – 2 tsp
- Oil / butter – 2 tsp
- Soya sauce – 2 tsp
- chilli sauce – 1/2 tsp
- Pepper pwdr – ½ tsp
- Sugar – 1/4 tsp [optional ]
- Salt as per taste
NOTE – If using grated veges ,squeeze the excess water and use .I have used V slicer to finely mice the veges
METHOD
Take all the stuffing ingredients in a mixing bowl .
After mixing if you feel there is moisture ,then take the stuffing in a thick towel and squeeze the juice .
The stuffing should not be very wet .
MAKING THE MOMOS :-
Divide the dough into small balls.
Roll it into thin circle of 5 inches.
Apply little water on the edges , of half the circle.
Hold it in the palm.
Place in a tbsp of stuffing in the centre.
Bring together the edges by pressing and folding like pleats.
It will look like half moon shape with frilled edges.
Repeat the same process with the remaining dough.
While making the other, cover the readyones with wet cloth.
Place all the the shaped momos on a greased plate. TIP – dip each momos in water and keep in steamer and then steam.
Steam it in a idli steamer or any regular pan for 20 – 25 mins till they look bit translucent .

TANDOORI MOMOS
INGREDIENTS
- Hung curd ¼ cup
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
- Tandoori chicken masala – 2 tsp
- Red chilli pwdr – 1 tsp
- Salt
METHOD
Make a mixture of all above ingredients .
Brush the marinade all over the steamed momos .
Keep aside for 15 – 20 mins .
Pan fry the momos for few minustes all over .
NOTES
- Instead of soya sauce you can also add the schezwan sauce in the veges.
- You can also add finely chopped mushroom, beans,spring onions greens or fresh coriander .
- You can also add little chilli flakes instead of pepper pwdr in the stuffing .
- You can also give simple modak shape.
- You can also add baking pwdr to the dough.
- Instead of steaming you can deep fry.
- For non veg add boiled and finely shredded chicken with the veges but reduce the quantity of veges or omit the veges.
