How to make sushila / MURMURA POHA
SUSHILA RECIPE / SUSLA RECIPE | PUFFED RICE UPMA | MANDAKKI OR CHURUMURI SUSLA | UGGANI /MURMURA UPMA
INGREDIENTS
- 4 cup puffed rice / churumuri / murmura
- 2 tbsp oil
- 3 or 4 tbsp peanuts
- 1 tsp jeera
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- Pinch of asafoetida
- Few curry leaves
- 2 onion finely chopped
- 2 or as per taste green chilli
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- Salt to taste
- ½ tsp sugar
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- Finely chopped coriander leaves as needed
PREPARATION
In a bowl take murmura and add water.
Soak murmura in water for about 30 secs OR a min (or till the sizzling sound subsides) .
Gently press it between palms to remove excess water and keep it in a bowl. The murmura should not be hard , just soft enough and should not loose its shape.
METHOD
Heat 2 tbsp oil , add mustard seeds + jeera and let it crackle .
Add 2 tbsp peanuts on low flame and fry until it turns crunchy.
Now add onion + curry leaves + green chilli and stir fry till translucent .
Add turmeric + sugar + salt and give a nice mix .
Add in squeezed murmura and mix well until the spices are coated well.
Cover and simmer for 2 or 3 minutes .
Add lemon juice + coriander. mix well.
Serve puffed rice upma for your breakfast or snacks.
NOTE instead of adding peanuts we can add coarsely roasted peanut powder or phutana pwdr .
