KERALA NENDRAN PAZHAM NURUKKU RECIPE / RIPE NENDRAN BANANA SNACK RECIPE

Nendran Banana/Etham Pazham/Kerala Banana is one of the superfoods 

Nendran bananas are rich in vitamin C, which is an essential nutrient that helps boost immunity. It also contains antioxidants that can help protect the body from free radical damage. Helps with iron absorption: Nendran bananas are rich in vitamin C, which can help increase iron absorption in the body.The potassium in this banana will help you prevent kidney stones and ulcers.

Nendrans are a regular staple food for all Keralites. It is extremely filling and a very simple recipe.

Pazham nurukku is one of the traditional Kerala snacks made with ripe bananas. It is also made for onam, thiruvathira and other special festive days. Easy to make and tasty snack is served with pappadam.

INGREDIENTS

  • Kerala ripe nendran banana – 2
  • Ghee – 1 tbsp
  • Jaggery – ½  cup
  • Freshly grated coconut – ½ cup
  • Cardamom pwdr – ¼ tsp
  • 1 pinch black cumin seeds optional
  • Fried kerala pappadams as needed

METHOD

Take jaggery + 3 to 4 tbsp water in apan .

Melt the jaggery .

Add cardamom powder and mix well . Strain and keep it aside .

Slice the bananas into thick roundels .

Heat ghee in  a pan.

Toast the bananas on both sides .

Add the jaggery syrup to the bananas.

Once it starts bubbling , add grated coconut and mix well.

Cook until thick and off the flame .

Serve it with crushed pappadams.
