SINDHI STYLE FISH CURRY RECIPE

SINDHI FISH CURRY RECIPE / THOOMA MEI MACHI / THOOM WAARI MACHHI/ FISH IN GARLIC GRAVY

INGREDIENTS

  • Fish – 500 gms
  • Oil – ¼ cup
  • Coriander leaves – 1 cup
  • Garlic – 10 or 12
  • Green chillies – 2
  • Red chilli pwdr – 1 tsp or as per taste
  • Garam masala pwdr – 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 + 2 tsp
  • Turmeric – ½ tsp
  • Jeera – 1 tsp
  • Tomato – 2 big finely chopped
  • Hot water – 1 ½ cup
  • Salt to taste

METHOD

Clean the fish slices. Marinate with a little salt + ¼ tsp turmeric  and set aside for few minutes.

Wash the fish thoroughly and pat dry it .

Make a paste of coriander leaves + garlic + green chilli and keep aside.

Sprinkle 1 tsp coriander powder all over the fish .

Heat oil in a pan.

Place the fish pieces and cook for 2 minutes on each side .

Drain , remove and keep aside .

Same pan crackle the jeera and add the green masala and stir fry till raw smell leaves .

Add te tomato and stir fry till oil separates .

Add the masala powders and fry for few seconds .

Add water + salt and bring to a boil

Once it starts boiling add the fried fish .

Simmer on medium to low flame for 5 to 6 mins till the fish is cooked .

Once done , off the flame .
Garnish with finely chopped green garlic.

Serve with chapati / phulka or rice

NOTE –

Instead of coriander leaves + garlic , use ½ cup of chopped green garlic .
