HEALTHY RAGI FLAKES UPMA FOR WEIGHTLOSS

100gms of Ragi is enough for fulfilling 49% of our body’s daily calcium needs. Along with calcium, Ragi also contains phosphorus, which works with calcium to strengthen your bones and teeth. Regular consumption of Ragi helps keep osteoporosis at bay and reduces the risk of fracture.

Ragi is composed of certain key amino acids, making it a unique plant-based source of high-quality proteins. It offers methionine, a sulphur-based amino acid to revive skin and hair health, valine and isoleucine which repair injured muscle tissues and threonine, to enable the proper formation of teeth and enamel 

Ragi flakes also known as finger millet flakes are made from the whole ragi, grown and processed organically – and therefore free from fertilisers, chemicals, and additives. You can easily make your breakfast porridge with the ragi flakes and enjoy a delicious and fulfilling breakfast.

INGREDIENTS

  • Ragi flakes – 2 cup
  • Finely chopped onion – 1 small
  • Mixed veges finely chopped or grated  – 1  cup [ boiled green peas ,carrot  ]
  • Finely chopped green chilli – 1 or 2 or as per taste
  • Oil + ghee –  1  tbsp
  • Mustard seeds + urad dal – 1 tsp
  • Jeera – ½ tsp
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Grated ginger – 1 tsp
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves and freshly grated coconut for garnish
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar – ¼ tsp [ optional ]

METHOD

Take the ragi flakes in a strainer, wash it well and drain the excess water.

Cover and keep it in the same strainer till use .

Heat oil + ghee in a pan, add mustard seeds + urad dal + jeera  and let it crackle.

Add onions + chilli + ginger + curry leaves and fry till translucent.

Add veges + salt + ¼ tsp sugar  and stir fry till cooked for 1 or 2 mins .[ crunchy texture ,don’t over cook ]

Add the ragi flakes and mix well.

Stir fry for 1 minute till the flakes gets coated with the masalas .

NOTE – Sprinkle little water , if very dry  .

Once done off the flame .

Garnish with coconut and coriander leaves .

Drizzle few drops of lemon juice while serving.
