QUICK VEG DALIA BIRYANI RECIPE / BROKEN WHEAT BIRYANI

INGREDIENTS

  • Dalia small size  – 1 cup
  • Mixed veges – 2 cup [ cauliflower, beans, peas, carrot , potato etc ]
  • Oil + ghee – 2 tbsp
  • Bay leaf – 1
  • Tomato finely chopped – 1 big
  • Onion chopped – 1
  • Green chilli – 3 or 4 or as per taste
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric pwdr – ½ tsp
  • Coriander pwdr – 2 tsp
  • Garam masala pwdr – ¾  tsp or biriyani masala as needed
  • Coriander leaves – ½  cup
  • Mint leaves – ½ cup
  • Curd – ¼  cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Water – 2  cup
  • Lemon juice – 2 tsp

METHOD

Take a big mixie jar , add onion + tomato + ginger garlic paste + mint leaves + coriander powder + garam masala pwdr + turmeric + lewmon juice + curd + salt and grind into fine paste by add ing ¼ cup water.

Heat a cooker , add the dalia and dry roast for 2 mins till hot .Colour should not change .

Heat oil + ghee in a cooker , add bay leaf and give a mix.

Add the ground paste and mix well.

Stir fry for 5 to 6 mins till raw smell leaves.Fry the masala well as all ingredients are raw.

Add the veges and mix well.

Stir and cook for a min .

Add ¼   cup water and mix well. [ don’t add excess water ]

Cover and cook till the veges are half cooked.

Now add the roasted dalia and mix well.

Stir and cook for a min.

Add 2 cup water and mix well.

Adjust salt as needed.

Cover the cooker and pressure cook on mdeium low flame upto 1 whistle and immediately off the flame .

Allow it to rest for 15 to 20 mins.

Now open the cooker and give a mix.

Serve hot with any raita, salad or any side accompaniments .

 I served it with mint raita .

NOTE

  1. I have used the small size dalia.
  2. Adjust spices and ingredients as per taste.
  3. Same recipe can be tried with chicken and mutton instead of veges .
