SUGAR FREE ANJEER MODAK /DRY FRUIT ANJEER BURFI /FIGS DATES BURFI
Whether raisins, almonds, cashew nuts or berries, the options are aplenty. Out of these, anjeer or fig is considered immensely beneficial as they are rich sources of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, potassium, magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese and iron.
Anjeer is a powerhouse of minerals like zinc, manganese, magnesium, iron and thus promotes reproductive health. The high concentration of antioxidants and fibre in this dry fruit protects against hormonal imbalances and post-menopausal issues.
Regular consumption of Anjeer also improves digestion as it contains dietary fiber. Anjeer is good for managing skin problems due to the presence of antioxidants. Applying Anjeer paste along with honey on the face can help improve skin health and decrease melanin. Anjeer leaf might help lower blood sugar levels.
INGREDIENTS
- Dried figs – 30 nos
- Chopped soft seedless dates of good quality – 15
- Poppy seeds / khuskhus – 2 tbsp
- Chopped almonds – ¼ cup
- Chopped cashew – ¼ cup
- Chopped pista – ¼ cup
- Chopped walnuts – ¼ cup
- Ghee – 1 tbsp
- Cardamom powder – ¼ tsp OR few drops of rose essence
NOTES – Use kimia dates
PREPARATION
- Soak the fig in warm water for 20 minutes. Drain the complete water , wipe it and chop it .Transfer to a mixie jar ,add the dates and grind it .
- Dry roast almond, cashew, pista and walnuts. Remove and keep aside.
- Clean the khus khus and dry roast it .Remove and keep aside separately .
METHOD
Heat ghee in a non stick pan.
Add anjeer and dates mixture.
Stir and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on low flame.
Cook till soft and pulpy .
Off the flame when it becomes like a whole mass.
Now add the roasted nuts + cardamom powder + roasted poppy seeds and give a mix.
Off the flame and transfer to a plate.
Once you are able to handle the mixture .
Give a nice mix and knead it till smooth .
Now take small portions and make any shapes – balls / modaks using moulds .
You can make burfis – Transfer to a greased plate , press it well and garnish with roasted pist or khus khus .Slice it into desired shape and size.

NOTES
- For extra flavour add in 1 tbsp of gulkand in the khajur .
- You can add more ingredients like white sesame, melon seeds, desiccated coconut, kismis , edible gum [gond ]
- You can add 1 tbsp of condensed milk / honey , if the mixture is too dry.
- You can give any shape.
- You can also roll it into balls.
- If using Poppy seeds , clean by picking tiny sand particles .
- Use dates of good quality which are soft and easy to grind in mixie .
