GRILLED TERIYAKI CHICKEN RECIPE

Teriyaki is a cooking technique used in Japanese cuisine in which foods are broiled or grilled with a glaze of soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. A sweet and tangy sticky sauce.

In the West, teriyaki is popularly used to prepare salmon, beef, or chicken, The word teriyaki combines two Japanese words: teri, meaning luster, and yaki, meaning grill or broil. 

Chicken is a lean meat with loads of proteins

Chicken is one of the most valued foods among people of all ages, throughout the world. Not only it forms a crucial part of various culinary traditions but it is also highly nutritious and delicious to taste. 

One can eat chicken on a daily basis; however, it is good to use cooking methods like boiling, grilling, roasting or baking rather than frying as it can lead to various health problems.

Barbecue chicken consists of chicken parts or entire chickens that are barbecued, grilled or smoked. There are many global and regional preparation techniques and cooking styles. Barbecue chicken is often seasoned or coated in a spice rub, barbecue sauce, or both

INGREDIENTS

  • Chicken breast – 500 grms
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  • Olive oil – 1tbsp
  • Brown sugar – 2 tsp
  • Honey – 1 tbsp
  • Pepper pwdr – ½ tsp
  • Soya sauce – 3 or 4 tbsp
  • Chilli sauce – 2 tsp
  • Ketchup – 1 tbsp
  • 2 tsp corn flour mixed well with 2 tbsp warm water
  • Olive oil for pan frying

METHOD

Clean , wash and pat dry the chicken breast.

Add slits all over .

Take all the ingredients except chicken and oil for frying  in mixing bowl and mix well.

As we are adding more of soya sauce ,salt is not required . If needed you can season sauce with a little salt.

Add the chicken and apply the marinade all over the chicken breast well with clean hands.

Transfer to refrigerator and let marinade 1 – 8 hours.

More the marination, better the taste and texture.

Heat a grill pan .

Drizzle little oil all over .

Place the chicken and cook for 10 mins on each side on medium flame.

Cooking time depends on the thickness of the breast

Once done serve hot with stir fried veges /mashed potato etc  accompanied by any dips or sauces .

Use the remaining marinade as dip .
